DIY Pallet Projects For Anyone

by Terrie Stevens

When it comes to DIY pallet projects, there are many great projects that you can choose from. Here are a few easy ones for beginners.

Garden Path

Gently take your pallets apart removing the nails with a claw hammer. Now plan out your garden path and form it with the wood planks from your pallets.

You can nail several together underneath, or you can simply lay them out as your garden path and press them down into the soil. Either way works well.

Book Case

Remove the nails from your pallets and stack your wood to see what you have. Now using your wood create a designer bookcase for your living room or a bedroom.

The bookcase can be large or small depending on how many pallets you are using. Don’t forget that you can stain the final project or paint it.

Bedroom Closet

Some prefer a handmade closet and pallets that have been gently used are an ideal resource for a closet.

Take your pallets apart and choose your closet design and create your own unique one of a kind closet. You can use the pallet wood to create the sides and the shelves in the closet as well.

Signs

Old pallets lend themselves well to creating unique signs. You can paint the pallet as a whole for a cool barnyard type sign, or you can take the pallet apart and use the planks for single signs.

Such signs may say things such as Hope, Happiness, Home Sweet Home, Welcome, and more. It’s all up to you what your signs say. Use milk paint for a truly unique look on your signs. Your friends and family will love them and be asking you to make them some creative signs.

Build A Woodshed

Old pallets are ideal for building a woodshed. Choose the whole pallet and lay them down on the ground so that there are three to six of them. You don’t want your woodshed too deep so make sure that you only use enough pallets to create the right depth.

Next, use some pallets to create the sides and the top of your woodshed. Secure everything together well and make sure that the top is weatherproof. Now you’re ready to stack wood in your new pallet woodshed.

Planter

Take your pallet apart and remove all nails. Now lay out your resulting boards and design a planter using the pallet wood.

You can make it several boards tall and design it to be square or rectangular. Give it a sturdy bottom and sides by securing everything well. You’re not ready to plant in your new planter.

Whatever you choose to make with your pallet wood, be sure that you remove all nails to prevent any injuries. Always wear safety gear when using tools.

Keep in mind that if you can think of the project, you can build it. There are many great resources online for DIY pallet projects for anyone that wishes to make them.
